Mind blast is indeed NOT useless. It's perfect for places like chaos sanctuary where you pop last seal to spawn diablo. Spawn time takes so long you lose your charges, but with MB you can keep a monster from despawning on last seal pop and then attack him a few seconds later to keep charges going for Diablo.
