yeah... honestly ive seen pretty much nothing but backlash from this. I get their intention, but it's completely unnecessary and I've never seen a single person complain about any of these types of things in the game before.

"omg I have to be a women to do this quest? but im a man!" said no one ever.

at least half the female players are actually guys, and since the beginning of runescape men have been wearing skirts over platelegs.

It doesn't effect most players in the slightest, but holy fuck being this sensitive to real-world issues <---(using this word incredibly lightly) so people feel "represented" while playing a midevil fantasy MMO is just wild to me.

I never did because it just looked dumb. back in the day it at least kinda made sense because like dragon plateskirt was a decent amount cheaper than the legs. but eventually the prices evened out but they still did it.
