So for awhile i've been playing osrs on runelite running 2 accounts at the same time. never had any issues. suddenly today, the window im not focused on just drops in fps, like from 60 to 10 and my pc makes a weird noise. when i click to that window the fps instantly regains but the other drops back down. I didn't change anything or do anything when that suddenly happened and now it does it every time. I even just stopped some programs from running to cool it down, did some updates and updated my gpu drivers but it didn't help. Has anyone else ever run into this issue?

What are the temps on your GPU like, sounds like it could be crapping out.
Sometimes it just need re-application of paste on the main chips (sooner the better) if its throttling from heat getting too high, I'd do that before trying to find a new card in this re-fucked market with sanction.
are you running 117 plugin on both or something?
GPU might not be able to handle it i got a 2060 6gb I think and 117hd makes takes up about 40% of gpu or more and causes fans to kick on.
If so change to lowest resolution settings, see if that helps.

If it is and you do reapply fresh paste Don't over tighten the screws when you put it back together and pay attention to the torque they have when you take them off.
If you got to buy a new card see if you got a micro center near you that you can get to a couple of hours before they open for a few days to wait in line to see if cards came in, they sell them for msrp.

i too have a 2060 or a 2070, i always forget, and yeah running 2 clients basically maxes out my GPU, both GPU and CPU were running at 180°F. But like i said that has always been normal and fine in the past.
This GPU isn't even quite a year old yet either, so i would be extremely surprised if it was already going out.

I've applied the paste to a CPU before but never on a GPU. I wouldn't dare mess with opening up one of those.

Oh, also yes I'm running 117 on both clients, which I realize now I probably don't need to be doing that. All im doing is afking blood runes on my main while I train slayer on my alt.

Yeah just change the settings on one or both don't even need gpu on if you just crafting bloods on the one, unless your cpu is old crap.
Your gpu has to be a year old I don't think NVidia new release of last gen 2060 cards is out yet, did you buy your card used?
Yeah I'd say don't reapply paste if it was bought just before release of the 30 series cards though I doubt the factory fucked it up.

See if the changing the settings works, if you are getting enough cooling in the tower, I have a 4790k and it got really hot I think t ruined a motherboard after so many years, after I got a used board I put an aftermarket coolmaster 212 on it went from 90's-near max temp, to 55-60's under load.

I bought a prebuild from bestbuy a little under a year ago, HP Omen 30L and it came with a RTX 2060.

Now even newegg doubled their price on 30 series cards.

so even after i turn off HD mode with both clients, the same thing still happens. something in my PC makes a weird noise, but now only one of my clients is getting less FPS when unfocused.

if i zoom in and out of either client, it does still effect each other, but still this is weird when before I was able to run 2 HD clients with no issues at all, aside from overheating, which isn't even happening now.

What's making the noise?
What does it sounds like?
only things I can think of are the HDD, the fans, or beeping from the motherboard.
I don't think this matters because after the game is loaded it's on your RAM.
Is Runescape installed on your SSD or HDD?

it's installed on my HDD. my PC has always made this weird noise at very specific times. i've never seen anything like it.

When I first got this PC, and I started playing Borderlands 3, I noticed say when i had the game paused and the menu open, something in my PC would make this slight high pitched buzzing noise, but only when I was hovering over an option. If I moved my cursor from 1 option to another, there would be a very brief pause then come back, as soon as the cursor landed on the next option. if I moved it away to something else, the noise would just be gone.

However this time, it will just do it constantly while I have 2 runelite windows open/logged in, but only 2. it's also never made that noise while playing runescape ever before. I can't quite tell what inside is making the noise. too hard to tell. I've never really had any performance issues in the past, either. I can play Doom Eternal just fine while it looks fantastic and runs super smooth (aside from BFG blasts lol)

You got two sticks of RAM 16gb, or did Best Buy do something scummpy like only give you 1 stick of 8gb?
I seen that in store before pre made on display with a single stick of ram.

Maybe an update or something pushed you os and games over the amount of ram you got and its reading what it can't store off the hdd
Look up how much memory is being used with both games running, and probably a browser or whatever running too.
You should be able to tell if a stick of ram died there if you got 2

If not try installing runelite on your ssd see if it makes the noise there.
