Don't know what to tell you, if it's your first time I suggest keeping it f2p(free to play) for a week or two.

Focus on just the quests, why excess leveling right now you might find tedius and very non-effective with your time.

The quests will bring you all around the free to play map, as well as introduce you to every mechanic the game has.

and most of all, any and all questions (including quest walkthrough) Google "osrs wiki *insert question here*"

Should give you most answers, feel free to pm me absolutely any time, and tomorrow I can chat with you in game and get you familiar with some stuff!

Only so much people can teach you over text. You're better off watching guides, and "from scratch" series imo

I agree questing should probably be your #1 focus as you'll learn a lot about the game and questing is the best way to progress your account early on

There are numerous quest guides for every quest in the game but I highly recommend videos from "Slayermusiq1" on youtube

I also recommend playing on the normal browser for a while before eventually moving onto a downloadable client such a "Runelite", since you're new you'll probably just get overwhelmed by the features on Runelite. However once you're relatively comfortable I'd highly recommend Runelite as it does have many many very useful plugins

If you have absolutely ZERO knowledge about the game I found this guide and quickly skimmed through it, seems useful for absolute beginners:

if it's your first time i suggest messing around and doing whatever you like

if you get bored or lost here's the best stuff to do (in order kinda)
witch's house
waterfall quest
fight arena
43 prayer (bones on wildy alter)
gnome tree
tree gnome village
monkey madness -> dscim
slayer
dragon defender/torso/slayer helm
lots of random quests and skilling
recipe for disaster
good all around base account at this point

good list to focus on^

additionally I'd add:
- Agility Rooftop training - For Graceful set; Graceful reduces your character's weight if you have a lot of items in your inventory. The lower your weight the slower your run energy will decrease, additionally wearing the full set also provides +30% run energy restoration. This will be very useful for questing (Keep in mind, there is no added benefit for having negative weight, so 0kg weight is the same as -10kg weight) Edit: a lot of people hate agility though, so maybe as a new player you should avoid this. But definitely keep it in mind in the future, just about every player in the game has a graceful set, very useful

- Dragon Slayer (quest) - Good experience rewards and ability to equip Rune Platebody and Green Dragonhide Body (you don't need this quest for Blue/Red/Black Dragonhide body)

- Animal Magnetism (quest) - For Accumulator; a "backpack" in your cape slot that will automatically save most of your arrows/bolts/knives/darts/and other range equipment (Excluding Chinchompas and Javelins from Ballista)

- Death Plateau (quest) - Very fast quest and you'll get your best-in-slot (for a while) boots; Climbing boots

- King's Ransom (quest) - Maybe hold off on this until you're higher level but this is very important once you're 60-70 prayer for Chivalry and Piety. The quest pre-requisites are a bit annoying though (One Small Favour)

- ACHIEVEMENT DIARIES - Honestly if you just aim to complete these, all of the quest/stat requirements will progress you far. Also the rewards and perks you gain are good even in the "late game"

Edit: I guess Lashiing already mentioned Recipe for Disaster, which has so many pre-requisites that you'll finish most of the quests i mentioned in the process

Overall what we're suggesting is biased because we're tainted by "EfficiencyScape", just have fun and watch guides while you explore : )

i chose the get 99 in every skill path, followed by completing every quest, diary, and pvming throughout the journey
never sold my in-game gold because the game's too fun ^_^
all of the hardest content doesn't make you good gp (gold pieces) per hour solo - you'll need teams to make heaps of money fast
raids, specifically, theater of blood, is the best gp per hour from bossing, but
the best cash per hour comes from doing services for others
learn to play barbarian assault then sell people barb assault points
(has very low reqs, and there's a client called "runelite" which has lots of built in plug-ins for runescape, and the minigame)

if you want to really enjoy the game, create an iron man. you can't trade other players & you have to earn/obtain every item alone (where possible)
provides a more comprehensive understanding of the mechanics of the game
