Is high alching from 55+ a fast way to level up magic? What is everyone's opinions?

Its cheap / profit. Do it while doing agility or something not worth bank standing

Fast up until a certain point? Sure. Consistent experience. Little effort. Potentially profitable.

What is faster for straight exp? Profit isn't really my goal.

Tele alching is pretty fast at low levels. Honestly I train magic at barrows so idk.

Cheap + profitable, def worth it..just not the best XP

what do you suggest for the best exp? (if you cannot barrage yet)

Can you even blood burst (or barrage)? Those are still very good in the abyss.
If not then just train it on slayer until you can use one of the bursts.
