Im new to runescape. I have a char at osrs. Can my character expire or something if I dont go into it from time to time?

Nope, just be sure that you don't have a recurring membership if you don't play often. ;)

I have only registered at free membership I guess. What is a recurring membership?

You can play the game as a free member with no costs, but for a few bucks a month you can play p2p (membership). If you register for recurring membership you pay monthly, even if you don't play :)
