I was getting around to again deciding if it was time for Dragon Hunter Lance, so I play with the online DPS calculators.
And I get results like the DPS increase is infinitesimal, like fifteen thousandths of difference in DPS.
Are these damage calculators wrong and I would see noticeable difference with a DHL on things like wyrms, wyverns, and rune dragons?
Or would I never know the difference between it and the fang I already own?

same setups, just fang vs lance swapped
dhl is better against stuff weak to dhl

These are my typical setups not at the high, high end.
The results are gear dependent then I guess.
I sometimes just use a prayer setup so I can AFK better, been getting random DC's the last few days so it may be mandatory right now.

Lance scales better with a high strength bonus, so if you're using feroc gloves, rancour, ultor etc. its gonna be much better than fang.
