Considering coming back to rs, itch for an mmo

have a hcim rs3 rank 14kish
have rs3 main with mostly maxed, considering pvm
have osrs main maybe 100 qp/mid skills, considering maxing

on either of them id probably do a youtube version of the red title progress threads here.

watched the latest release for rs3 and i feel like theyre taking the piss, showcased 110 skill release and showed footage from the skills that has been in the game since 2010, meaning they haven't actually developed anything, just hopes and dreams.

on the other hand, new ceo switch over, the blokes linkedin screams investment strategy, looks like osrs is going to meet the same fate as rs3 squeel of fortune after that horrid survey

Go for max on osrs

im pretty solid on osrs but after leagues and 99 rc im a bit burnt

i find rs3 is perfect for unburning, similar enough to brain off afk, different enough to hate it and long to go back to osrs

i'd pick a 3 month goal in each and ping-pong back and forth or splitscreen em

(im also sideloading gw1 and eve for when the afk gets really boring)

I've personally been taking a break since the survey fiasco. The new CEO announcement is not a good sign imo and doesn't give me confidence on returning until things hash out. In the meantime i've been loving relearning PoE and might jump into WoW Mists of Pandaria if it becomes popular

RS3, in my opinion, has better PvM content and similar to Lashiing's comment, is good for those who want to AFK train skills and get decent XP rates.
I think there's significantly more content and the quest lines in RS3 are severely under-rated - most people just space-bar through it but they have really deep and intricate lore.

The caveat to that is the MTX, however it never effected me. I didn't care about other people's wealth, skills, etc. I only cared about my own progress.
Further to that, the tick system on RS3 can be quite frustrating and clunky - but combat is much more rewarding and challenging.


OSRS is a mixed bag for me. I do enjoy the simplicity of it, however I do not enjoy the XP rates.

Both are in a decent enough state; but my bias for RS3 is because I'm grand-fathered in the $5 rate. If they cancelled and forced me to pay the current rates I would quit RS altogether and not come back. The game is not worth that much to me in my opinion.
