I am completely new to osrs.

Magic is the highest skill I've at 32 and 3 quests done.

I assume I just continue doing quests and get distracted farming skills?

Particularly an order I should follow in quests/skills?
Should I focus on buying better gear or use what i find?

Any beginners tips/guides ?

I don't know what to do other then jump on YouTube? Haha

I see by scrolling forum you don't discuss trades in game?

First step is download RuneLite and explore the plugins if you haven't already

Complete all quests, order doesn't really matter. Use the skill requirements of quests you haven't done as a goal and it'll come naturally. Here's a guide you can do early to avoid early game grinds though: https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Optimal_quest_guide
Complete all Achievement Diaries. That'll probably take a while as you need 90+ in a lot of skills and other lengthy grinds

If you start feeling burnt out on those two, just find an activity you find fun and do it until you're ready to grind again.

Leveling combat skills gives you more DPS than buying gear. Cheap upgrades like Dragon Scimitar to Abyssal Whip is fine, just don't worry/spend too much until you're done leveling or need it for a specific reason

Yes do not discuss jsp or mention that you're buying gold ingame. All communication should be on jsp for that

Wait to do slayer until you're 80+ in combat stats, unless you need it for a quest or item. Before then it just takes a bunch of time

If you have a ton of time or can remote into your pc at work, you can look up training via afk methods like Nightmare Zone or Ammonite Crabs.

Yeah it’s more of longterm goals, but it exposes you to a lot of content so you can find something you enjoy :). It’s an online RPG so there’s no real end, and the great part is your progression is permanent so you can’t really get FOMO

I am laughing reading this guide for water fall quest .
This just made me think that me being confused was a joke until now lol .

First step look up guide in wiki
next step look up guide to explain guide lol

SO pretty much just play everything by ear or have wiki up right beside me at all times xS

runelite -> quest helper

Runelite+ questhelper if you're a Dad 100%. It will feel cheaty but it will push you through some of the tedious stuff towards more fun stuff.

I disagree with the wait until 80 combat for slayer. Slayer is a fun and efficient way to level up combat skills. I started training slayer at 60 combat, no regrets.

Highly recommend searching a barrows gloves guide and following it. I started 2 months ago after around 20 years away and followed a barrows gloves guide (with some detours/meandering). Amazing final outcome but more importantly it set me up to understand a lot of whats going on in the game. How to travel, how to fight early/mid-game bosses, questing and skilling efficiency.

In questhelper, there's an optimal quest path that might be worth chipping away at parallel to or instead of a barrows gloves path.

Questing is lightning fast for leveling at the beginning. You might find a skill you enjoy grinding that you can put some time into aside from questing (rule of fun takes priority).
