Haven't played in probably 15 years. I played legit w/o the use of bots and such. I have 99 ranged and a few other noteworthy stats. All of my gear/gold/holiday items were maliciously removed, hence why my account was locked and I had to recover it. I am looking to get back into the game, but I honestly have NO idea where to start. Anyone able to maybe take some time and explain what happened over the last 15 years? Thank you! feel free to pm me :). I just want to understand what happened and how there's two versions now. rs/osrs. This world is something familiar yet somehow completely foreign

Looking it up is going to be a lot better.

Nobody's going to want to sit you down in class to go over a decade and a half.

Restart as a main and buy your way to max. Or make an Ironman and start the game fully over from scratch. There’s a lot of new content now, and more coming basically every month here recently. They got everyone’s ass by switching over and making us remake accounts though but what can you do? Also been back for about 2 years from 10 years ago play time. I’m having a blast this go around regardless.

So go back to osrs? Oof. Now sure I can do the gfx

Runelite with HD plugin. Plugins have come a long way. Essentially makes it a new game. Tags, markers, helps, load outs. If you give it a try I think you’ll enjoy it. Now early game is of course the most boring.

so is osrs classic wow and rs3 is retail?

The old Runescape you played 15 years ago is now called Runescape 3. It has updated graphics, different combat mechanics, and is a VERY different game then what you're probably used to.
This version has many new skills, higher skill caps, ie 99 is not the highest level, and a lot of different combat mechanics.

Oldschool Runescape is the "new" Runescape that was released in 2013 and has the same old graphics that you're used to when you were younger.
This version also has many new things, but is the "core" Runescape experience.

In terms of what's happened over the last 15 years? An insane amount of things has changed, but it depends on what game you're asking about.
