So Jagex is pushing hard for people to migrate from RS Accounts to Jagex Accounts...

They claim the accounts have improved security etc. but I have strong doubts. Doesn't that make it easy for a hijacker to have access to multiple accounts with a single password?

Moreover, if one of your accounts is flagged for RWT or any cheating (rightfully or wrongfully, we all know both cases happen), won't all your accounts be banned in one go?

What do you guys think?

With Jagexs track record I will not be signing up. I'll keep my OG username login.

Regardless of if you use OG username or an email to login, It's way to simple and easy to have perfect account protection. (Assuming you don't get a virus or phished of course)

The scammers can just hack accounts nowadays with almost no starting info. they hacked mod ash's wifes acc just to show the jmods that their security is shit.
your account can be recovered with such minimal info that its pathetic.
Say you have your username as you login, they search your username on databases with emails and passwords that have been compromised through other sites and sources. they then use all the info provided to recover your account, and often works.

Sadly until they drastically increase quality of the recovery process, accounts are pretty well fucked.
whats even worse is that your auth is useless since when you recover an account, it disables the auth automatically. your only hope is that you have the 7 day pin deactivation set and get your account back before it is removed.

You generally need quite a bit of info to get an account recovered, none of which is posted anywhere aside from the runescape data base. So unless they are hacking directing into Jagex, they're not getting most accounts very easily.

If it was that easy, anyone with 1b+ standing in GE would just get hacked immediately.

I think you didnt read what i said properly. I never said every account is at risk. many accounts are because they have used the same email and usernames across many platforms.
the main things they ask for is old passwords, ips, acc creation date, and where you live. 3 out of 4 of those can be obtained from databases.

Update my password every 3 months on both email and login, and use an auth. I know nothing is hack proof but I do my best.


I just don't trust that Jagex has our best intentions in mind.

I mean I think turning your account into a jagex account is a terrible idea. But having your own basic account security is easily enough. I haven't changed my pw in idk how many years. I know my account is 100% safe so long as I dont sign up for double exp or free bonds on osrs lol.

do you think this is going to interfere with me winning my award from b0aty's quitting stream?
