There's a decent post on RSOF that is speculating whether one of the new skills is this month. Could be interesting enough to come back for.
The main points were
  • A seemingly light BTS for May.
  • The second update unlocking a lot of lore and giving experience in an unspecified skill.
  • A quote from a JMod saying that the new skills had a direct relation to the sixth age and would be very lore heavy.
  • Some previous skills not being directly mentioned in BTS. (Construction being similar to "The ability to make and sit on your own chairs" rather than stating it was a new skill)

I never really left EoC though, only played 07 for a quick bit of fg, so I shouldn't really vote on which will be more fun.

anything over costs to afford nex gear/drygores/shit tons of pots would be overkill imo, and having all that coming into the game would ruin it(for me at least)

Keep up the grind man!
Personally, I love EoC in both aspects. The bar for skilling is sweet, and I love dungeoneering so much more now that you have the ability bar, just makes it more interesting.
I obviously haven't experienced all the new armours/bonuses/nerfs on certain items (off hand, dual wield etc.) and because of that, I hate actually going out and training combat (outside of dungeoneering).
Overall though, I'd definitely say come back as it still is very fun.
