maybe i'm retarded or something cuz i've never been to corp, but I thought the purpose was to do damage

Sorry, I guess i didn't explain it very well. Range at corp is TERRIBLE, I use melee to attack corp, I use emerald (e) bolts only to stun the core (make it so it cannot leach your life every second, makes it like every 30 seconds or something). Since it only has 250 life it is very easily 1 hitted with range so with less attack bonus you'll more likely not to kill it in 1 hit.

It's too attack the core. No matter if you deal damage or not it still has a chance to do the special attack, which is what you want. You don't want to kill the core, just stun it.
