I said to study and learn about his beliefs and gain information which applies to him; not what his parents shoved down his throats like so many do.
I have the same opinion about religion.
I had a friend ask me about it the other day. So I told him this..
When I was younger my mom wouldn't really pressure me into going to church just encourage it. So i went because my friends were going. After going every Wednesday for about 2 months I never understood why. So I went up and ask the preacher "why do you believe in god?". He hesitated, then looked down at the bible he was holding and said "Because of the bible". I looked at the bible then back up at him and said "what if the Harry Potter books were the books everyone believed in? Would you believe that was true too?". Now I wasn't trying to insult him or his beliefs in any way. I was younger and just didn't understand. He was speechless and I could tell I upset him. So i just got up and walked out.
To this day I have the same opinion.
