I have no idea why MTX piss so many people off. Rs3 is old, there are already 100s of people with 200m exp in skills why does what other people do concern you? I dont use MTX and honestly dont care if others do, it helps pay for the game I play more power to them. Doesn't take away from the countless hours I've spent grinding on my account at all. No need to rely on others for validation. I threw a vote for rs3 iron man as well, been tempted to start one myself.

Definitely, it has been my gripe with RS3 forever. Really doubt we'll see exp leave Treasure Hunter, but we can dream, I guess. Ironman is about as close as we can get, hah.

Yeah, BXPW definitely hurts to be an ironman, but then I feel it adds a little more prestige to your level achievements -- you got those levels without any of the crazy boosts base-game has (TH, BXPW). :)

Dang, this topic has me wanting to make an ironman now.

If I make one, we can be friends. I would really love if they suddenly came out with group ironman as well.

You're going to get a lot of bias toward OSRS in this sub. RS3's MTX and combat system are pretty key things that drive the hate for RS3.
I will say, just play what you're comfortable with and enjoy the most.

Getting a lot of my friends telling me to play OSRS, but I just can't because I honestly love what they're doing on RS3, save for the MTX.
I can overlook the MTX because of the other things RS3 has to offer. If it really starts to drive me nuts, chances are I'll make an Ironman.

That being said... OSRS is definitely a pretty damn polished game by now and I have no hate for it, but the nostalgia and overall gameplay does nothing for me, personally.

Tossed in a vote for RS3 ironman, as an unpopular vote. I think the game really lends itself to ironman now, especially after the Mining & Smithing rework, and the game mode isn't plagued by the MTX. :P

This all day long. I was EXTREMELY ADDICTED to Rs2 right before that god forsaken.......we don't say it's name around here..........combat system was released.

Yes look at the game

I looked at the game.
Went all around, took screenshots.
Made a thread full of RS3 screenshots.
OSRS players were saying how great it looks.
Max settings and ultrawide screen in camera mode.

Looking good.
But if you don't like RS3 high quality graphics, they also have potato mode for your familiarity.

If you're turned down by the idea that $5000 could halve someone's time to get maxed... then... here's a tip.
Rather than complaining about what other people waste their money on, stop caring about what other people do.
That guy who spent $5000 on keys on RuneScape did so because he had the money for it, and not the time. Not everyone can play 14 hours a day, every day.
Do you smoke? Do you drink? Do you like to go out for dinner? Do you like to watch movies?
Odds are, you spent more than him on useless shit. You just spent your money on different useless shit. Does that trigger me? No, I give 0 fucks about what you do.
That guy dropping $5000 probably provided more funds to the game in a couple years than you did in the 10-15 years you played.

If you don't like RS3's combat mode.... then how the fuck do you like OSRS combat mode? Honestly.
RS3 literally gives you the same combat mode available on OSRS - Legacy combat mode.
They give you skills, each with different attack animations, which adds visual interest to the game.
Do you like skills, but don't want to mash buttons? Full revolution allows you to automate EVERYTHING.

Correct, but any time you allow people to buy things that should only be obtained by time, it well have a major effect on the sense of accomplishment of obtaining those stats legitimately, as everyone in the game has them and or can easily get them at any point if they pull out their wallet. To each their own man, just not for me! I have a max cape myself which I got before all that stuff was added, now it’s almost expected to have a max cape.

That being said, I’m not saying it’s all bad, was just ruined for me personally by all these things.

TH does not get you very much actual experience unless you spend large amounts of RL cash and abuse promotions. Most experience comes in the form of "bonus" experience and again not that much unless you spend a ton of cash. Very, very few people have that kind of cash to dump on a game and if you want a feeling that you are getting an "achievement" for playing the game that you don't get because you think other people get an unfair advantage then you can use iron-man where it has its own high scores and cannot abuse the micro-transactions.

You can buy bonds with RL cash and sell for in game currency on ScapeRune and that should only be obtainable through time and experience so your argument is completely irrelevant. Also, unless they have finally come to their senses and completely removed it, you can tape down a key on your keyboard to AFK NMZ or splash mage or some other form of AFK for 6 hours of exp before it auto logs you on ScapeRune thus not even playing the game for max stats in various skills... This is not possible in RuneScape. The in clock for time played means nothing and as far as I am aware no one but you can see it.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this debate. The popcorn is cooking in the microwave atm. I didn't think it would spark this much conversation. Thanks to all who have contributed so far.

Please keep voting for now.

I Will make a decision in a few days to give adequate time for everyone to vote.
