Little background story here. Smithing, you know, BANG BANG BANG 'n shit. Alright, so my Hammer is all GN8 M8, and on that plate, I get a Rock. Hammer turns into a Rock M8. What are the odds M8.

Math:
100 Plates/Hammer = 125,000 Bonus Xp/Hammer = Worth getting. ~1M worth of coins saved, as compared to normal Smithing. Does not drain Brawlers faster, to best of knowledge.
Brawlers banked: 4. Plates/Brawler = 434 * 3 full Brawlers = 1200 + 90 + 12 = 1302 & 334 = 1636 / 100 = 16.36 = 17 Hammers needed.
17 Hammers * 100 Plates = 250K= 4250K XP + 5660K XP = 9916K XP = 96.33333333 Smtihing. EXP Til 99 = ~3.1M W/O Brawlers = FUCK

E: I understand it. 17 Hammers * 100 Plates(2500Xp/Plate=250K/Hammer) * 17 = 4250K, I gotcha M8.
