I'm not sure if I like the updates...somewhat makes you not want to level it if the person has a huge run on you

I like it simply because I know how far away I am from getting that person instead of me just blindly guessing how much I need.

It goes both ways. Which is why I kind of suggest less updates. 2 or 3 a week would be nice, not every day (from what it seems like)

I have tried to have an update every 24 hours.

I believe it to be a good thing that the past competition has not had outside of IRC. Yes, it can go both ways but if you really wish to compete for first it's nice to know if anyone else is doing the same, although you might lose interest if you found out noone else was close.

You don't have to look if you wish to keep the competition blind, but I do not think the competition suffers from this transparency.

After all, is it really a competition if you're only competing against yourself until the results are posted?
