I use the door key from witch's house because it has a slightly higher alch value than most, but you might have to find something else if what you're trying to save outvalues the key

Thank you for this method, i'll try it and add it to the OP.
I guess this works only if the item doesn't get deleted on death right? This method of yours could allow saving items that otherwise would be deleted from graves once the quest is over.
