"0.20 BAC: Feeling dazed/confused or otherwise disoriented. May need help to stand/walk. If you injure yourself you may not feel the pain. Some people have nausea and vomiting at this level. The gag reflex is impaired and you can choke if you do vomit. Blackouts are likely at this level so you may not remember what has happened."

That's roughly 9 beers in two hours, according to these statistics.
If that were the case, I would be blacking out drunk three to four times a week.
I drink more than that with my dinner some nights...

Without actual evidence what we have here is conjecture. It's basically established science how much each individual drink would raise your BAC, now, granted, in order for it to completely finish it's job, you have to give it time to absorb.

Your BAC at that time was only .156, but would have rose steadily on the way home.

E: Or in this case, in the drunk tank. If they had tested you again in an hour, it would have been even higher.

This is why most people drive drunk to begin with. All the alcohol hasn't hit them yet, and often gets far worse as you are traveling home, which is what leads to fatalities.

Another way to look at it, how many times have you, or others you known, gotten smashed, and then sick once they got home? Eventually your body says "enough", and pukes it up. Yet just a half hour ago, you were fine, why is that?

It's not instantaneous ofc, if it were, no one would be able to drink more than a few drinks at a time without passing out.

That was kind of the point I was trying to make.
You only said they had to make it through the movie, not that they wouldn't regret it soon thereafter. ;)

If you are drinking that much with dinner, (ie 9 drinks in roughly an hour), I hate to say this, but you're an alcoholic.

AT this point your body is getting used to being sauced. In fact, you're likely to go through DT's if you stop.

Sounds like my Father, sadly enough. The man turned blacking out every night into an art form.

I won't debate you there, except for the withdrawals.
I have my weeks where I drink almost every night through that week, and then others when I don't have a drink for 2-3 weeks altogether.
The only difference I notice is that my workouts seem to drop off due to dehydration on the weeks I'm drinking.
My mood stays roughly the same, whether I'm drinking or not, as does my overall energy level, etc.

That usually depends on what the wife makes for dinner.

For the record Camb, I drink nightly as well. Not trying to bash you for enjoying alcohol. However drinking that much constantly means you're more accustomed to being drunk, so what is an average drunk for most people is a day at the office for you.

I was the same way when I was younger. Not so much now.

Also, touche on staying within the rules on the Taken game.

Heck, if we let them puke immediately after, they're bound to live. Though still suffer like hell.

With alcohol no one person is the same, there are tiny people that can consume way more than large people etc. so in my opinion an average means nothing.

Honest moment here: As long as you don't let it take over your life, that's all well and good. Just be careful ofc, because it can rather easily and the next thing you know, you're making excuses as to why it isn't (when it really is). Was there before too.

In my opinion, anyone attempting 32 shots in 93 minutes deserves to suffer like hell anyhow.
I've had my fair share of rough mornings, and that's just begging for a night you'll never remember, and most likely not even enjoy. :P

Truer words have never been spoken.
Honestly, I just enjoy drinking. I do it when I'm in the mood, and when I'm not, I don't.
I don't drink before work, I don't neglect my duties, and I make sure my family comes first.
If the wife and I are going out for the day to the beach, or just to go have fun somewhere, I don't drink before I go or while I'm there.
Honestly, the only time I'm really comfortable drinking is when I'm at home (partially due to my previous driving offense) and when there's a social function.
I don't use it as a mechanism to cope with my problems, and I don't use it as a form of relaxation.
Basically, I look at drinking the same way I do playing video games or browsing D2jsp. I like trying new beers, and it's a fun hobby, but it's not a necessity, and it doesn't come first, ever.
