I have a sibling that has spent the last 12 years of his life with a drug addiction, he has gotten clean for a few months at a time but always reverted.
this most recent time getting clean was his own choice, he chose to go to detox, chose to do treatment, and all that.
he has been clean for i think 4 months now and I have legit never seen him more happy than he is now.
Cant ever let other force the change on you, it only works if you yourself are the one who wants to make the change
