After I sold all my items to help pay for a car and college I left Runescape in 2007. What has changed in the game? I quit right when the general exchange came out. Never played the new game (is it RS3?) but prefer to play Old School Runescape. is OSR worth playing from the beginning or for someone like me with a lot of fg?

If you have a lot of time sure play it. For someone who hasn’t played in ages there’s a lot to do.

Also yea play OSRS. You’ll be more comfortable to start out since you’re familiar with the mechanics and stuff.

Worth playing if you have the time for sure, it's still the same mechanics from back then just with all the updates over the years but still has the same core to the game

54k fg is way over kill if you drop it all in haha, honestly a good 10m gp (700 fg) will be plenty enough to do all the early game content without having to worry about gp for anything

One big suggestion though since you do have gold and if you don't mind spending it the sooner you get 82 construction the better (cost around 20-25m I believe off top of my head) it'll give you a lot of quality of life features

A pool that 100% heals you (hp / prayer / energy / stats / special attack)
A jewelry box that has all the teleporting jewelry in it / fairy ring in house / can build portals to bunch of different tele locations etc

Although only getting 82 you'd want to get a cat and do rat catchers to get a wily cat early on to be able to get stew spices easily to get +5 cons boost to build some of that stuff that requires 87 to save having to get those extra levels

Welcome back.
Quitting for 13 years must be a world record but they always return thats just How rs works

So yes i would advise you to play Osrs its gonna be very nostalic.

As star said if you just want to play your self and figure out the game then about 10m cash should be plenty in the start.

If you want to skip all the beginner stuff then you can just Pay People here to do all the stuff you dont like haha.

Top tips.
Set some goals for levels you want/ places you want Unlucked.
I always suggest New players to get into questing as its the biggest unluck in the whole game. Quite big job tho.

There a 2 different account types now.
Regular accounts: they can use g.e / trade with others.
Ironman: can not use g. E / trade.
Ironman is much more dificult as you really need to know the game where to gather items.

I would personally advise you to make a regular account before gettin into iron.

Feel free to pm me for questions etc while you start up i do My Best to answer

If you enjoyed runescape pre-07 then you wont see much difference outside of new items from the recent updates over the past 5-ish years, specially recent updates.

PvP still pretty fun and many different builds.

like others said, if you got the time to grind, welcome back :)

starcrater gave really good advice to begin with, on top of depending on what you want to do...try to get barrows gloves as well to have a good starting account ^_^

define "rare"

mostly new items and raids exclusive items are "rare" but there still is a drop table that have varying degrees of commonality

In osrs No. There Are only very expensive items.

Im rs3 there Are quite a few.
Only ones worth to mention Are Christmas cracker / party hats / Black santa hat.

Those items you can get in osrs pretty much for free.

Also the rares in rs3 Are quite expensive with my fg i cant Even buy the most expensive ones
