This is the second edition of my original Prod/Armor dueling guide I had written a while back. I make on average anywhere from 100-200m a day while at the arena, and I have made a video covering two days of duels for people to see how simple and profitable proding can be.

Please note that this build is expensive and to start doing this I recommend you have at least a 100M cash pile, and the more the better.

Note :: Since I had already written this guide prior some information and the looks of the guide will stay the same!

Stats for Statius Prods



Okay you look at my stats and you see basically a random main account with casual stats, and nothing major that would reflect a pure.

78 Attack (81-83 Recommended)
70 Strength (75-80 Recommended)
78 Defence (79-81 Recommended)
1 Magic (85 Recommended)
1 Range (85 Recommended)
1 Prayer (75 Recommended)
1 Summoning (Doesn't matter what level it is)

Okay these are the MINIMUM stats or my basic preference for recommended levels. You need 78 attack for Vesta's Long Sword, and 78 Defense for Full Statius. The reason I recommend different stats is because you do not want people to look at your stats and know that you're a blatant VLS/Statius Prod. With 78Atk/78Def it just screams "Don't stake me".

I recommend prayer for two reasons. First off pures do not normally get prayer, and it throws people off. Second reason is for spirit shields, and I HIGHLY recommend if you can afford one that you get it. (This will be covered in the items/inventory section)

Stats for Statius Prods + Hybrids

78 Attack (81-83 Recommended)
70 Strength (75-80 Recommended)
78 Defence (79-81 Recommended)
85 Magic (94 Recommended)
78 Range (85-90 Recommended)
1 Prayer (75 Recommended)
1 Summoning (Doesn't matter what level it is)

The mage is because the higher your magic the better chance you have of resisting enemy spells, and since I will stake duel mages I recommend at least 85 to help with this, but you want 94 mage. For hybrid duels you DO NOT want to use ancients, but rather you want to use Lunars with range gear. You need AT LEAST 78 range for Morrigans Jav's and Axes, but I suggest 85-90 for damage output in hybrid duels.

Since you're going to be counter hybriding you won't use magic in duels, and having Lunars up allows for your to use Disruption Shield, and Vengeance! Disruption shield will stop the next incoming damage that you are to receive and can be cast once every 30 seconds. Vengeance reflects 75% of damage received back to dealer, and is also able to be cast once every 30 seconds. Having these two spells up and countering their magic with range will almost guarantee a win!

The downside is that you must do around 32 hours of the Livid Farm Mini-game to unlock the Disruption Shield spell. The upside to that is that if you have the minimum requirements to go into Livid Farm and do the 32 hours of it (91 Magic, 60 Farm) you will get to almost 94 magic, and level from 60-75 farming while unlocking Disruption Shield! So not only will you get levels, but you will unlock an extremely strong spell!


Stats for Torva Prods + Hybrids

78 Attack (81-83 Recommended)
80 Strength (80 Recommended)
80 Defence (81-82 Recommended)
85 Magic (94 Recommended)
78 Range (85-90 Recommended)
1 Prayer (75 Recommended)
1 Summoning (Doesn't matter what level it is)

If you equip Torva prior to the start of the duel you will receive the health boost from wearing it during the duel! This will normally win you the duel, but there is many other things to keep in mind. After you lose the health boost from Torva and you fall into the normal health range STATIUS is actually better than Torva so if you own a set of Statius go ahead and equip it after you lose the boost from Torva in a duel.

Tricks to equip torva without being seen :: There are two easy methods to do this. The first is that when they send you a duel request you stack on top of them and equip the Torva and accept the request. You will unstack and they will not see your armor. The second way is stacking on NPC's that are walking around such as the nurses, but you can force nurses to stand in position and stay put by right clicking and clicking heal, and then walking under them. As long as you stay within a 1 square radius of them they will follow your character but not move so you can stack under them repeatedly.

Inventory



This is the inventory that I use on a daily basis for stake dueling. I will explain why everything is where it is, and its usefulness to how I duel. Note - Vesta Longsword and Statius degrade after time. It is wise to always keep another weapon/Armor or even another set of Statius/VLS in inventory so that when this happens you can switch on other gear. Be prepared for this to happen after 60-80 Duels.

Vesta Longsword - This sword is the equivalent to a Chaotic Long, but with a spec. The spec deals 20% bonus damage and becomes much more accurate.

Full Statius Armor - This armor is BETTER than Torva in every regard excluding the health boost.

Shields :: Elysian Ss > (Chaotic Kite > DFS + Spectral Ss) :: You will be required to have one of these. This is best to worse, but you need to have one of them. I also recommend a Spectral SS if you want to stake with mages too for extra chances to win money.

Fury Amulet - No reason to have anything less.

Boots :: Steadfast Boots > Dragon Boots :: No reason to have anything less.

Gloves :: Barrows Gloves > Regen Bracelet :: Get whats best if you can.

Back Slot :: Fire Cape > Obsidian Cape > Vet Cape - Use whatever you can get that's best for you.

Ring of Recoil - Rings of recoil are in fact the BEST ring to use while stake dueling without any exception. On a average duel they can add 50-150 additional damage to a fight which is a MAJOR addition, and it almost like getting an extra swing or two on an opponent. Always carry 2-3 on you.

This is ALL you need to do Melee Vs Melee Prod stake dueling, but I take it a little further by adding an entire additional set of gear to my inventory.

Full Armadyl, God Cape, Ragefire Boots/Infinity Boots, Barrow Gloves(Get these if possible)/Black Vamps, Morrigans Javelins, Morrigans Throwing Axes, and a Rune Crossbow.

The reason I add this entire set of gear to my inventory is because it allows me to duel with anybody. Mages, Melee, or other Rangers.

I also stake duel people who put put mage on by countering them with my Range. I DO NOT stake mages with range off because Melee vs Mage with SOL spec up is nearly impossible to win even while wearing full anti mage gear.


Gear to wear; When and Why

Against Melee/Rangers::

Full Statius, Elysian/CK/DFS, VLS, Fury, Ring of Recoil, Steadfast/Dragon Boots, Fire/Obby cape, Barrows/Regen Bracelet.

Against Melee with SOL Spec::

Full Armadyl, Elysian/CK/DFS, Fury, Ring of Recoil, Steadfast/Dragon Boots, Fire/Obby Cape, Barrows/Black Vamps. If they switch off their SOL be sure to change your gear back to the AGAINST MELEE set-up.

If range is not on equip your prod gear and equip a whip and auto attack till the sol spec wears off. Once it has wore off you can pull out your vls and spec them till dead. If you fall below 1/5 health I would suggest go ahead and equip your VLS and begin using your spec.

Against Mages ::

Full Armadyl, Elysian/Spectral/CK/DFS, Fury, Ring of Recoil, Ragefire/Infinity Boots, God Cape, Barrows/Black Vamps. (Use Morrigans Jav spec till you hit 150+, then switch to Throwing Axes till the end of fight) If they switch to melee gear without Sol Spec go ahead and change gear accordingly, but if they leave SOL on continue to attack with this set-up.

If you have Disruption Shield and Vengeance available don't forget to cast those!


What to wear when you're looking for duels!

I thought I should include that you want to look like you have the money that you're trying to stake, but without looking like you can afford to be hiding 70-150M worth of gear.



This is what I wear while I attempt to find stake duels of about 15-20M. I've changed it up and will randomly wear junk gear like this, or full bandos, or other gear. Just change it up!

How much should I stake and why?

Please keep in mind that VLS and Statius will cost you around 70M or so for about 60 stake duels worth of time. You need to set a MINIMUM stake duel of about 4M every duel just so you don't fall below the cost of dueling with this gear. My average stake is around 15-20M, and sometimes go lower but never fall below 7.5M per duel. Very seldom will I even venture below 10M per stake. So just keep this in mind!

Cost per duel will be around 1.5M (Just to be safe)

Minimum you want to stake per duel 4M

Also try to keep a count on how many stakes you use your gear in so you can "guess" when it might degrade so you can be ready. Rule of thumb is to note that an average set will last 60 duels. So buy a new set around 55 duels and wait.

Question, think a mage boxer would actually be worth it?

I don't suggest any type of boxing to anybody. It's basically 50/50 to win.

You can tip the odds in your favor in multiple ways. Not to mention the highest stakes are usually mage stakes (from what I remember atleast)
