I don't understand poems

I wasn't into them much either until a teacher changed my mind about them.
A poem about a death and todays technology.
Turn off the ringers of the micro-computers.
Shut down the engines, of the cars of the future.
The tempo of time stops, no heart can make beat.
As the last bed is made for the eternal sleep.
This isn't a fake show, that DVR recorded.
Or some false propaganda that a news cast reported.
This is a murder, and time did the kill.
So update your status to attending a funeral.
It is said that without a heart, a human will die.
But she took my heart with her, so it proves that a lie.
She forged my morals, and gave me inspiration.
So she lives on in the future, for it is my creation.
