Historically everyone read books for education / entertainment, but since the computer age, everything has been

subject to digitization.

Any thoughts / comments on this ??

Good / Bad / Indifferent ??

I'll always read a book coz it allows u to give characters the voice you want.
You can also read with your own rhythm which is very important for the understanding sometimes.

Last point , i'll always read on paper and not on computer or phone & co, because paper his sweeter for eyes, IMO.

Agreed :>

I tried listening to the TwoT - Rober Jordan series audio books but felt meh. Though I gotta say that it's really good voices. They do all the accents and if there's a female character talking (and the male voice) he pitches his own voice slightly higher to hint at it. Same if it's a man with a very deep voice he goes rumbling. Really good actually but it's not the same feeling as reading a book

Paper book > Ebook > Audio > Someone reading it aloud for you (I recall school, sucks meng!)

Serious readers read for themselves, I can respect that.

Yea ... if the reader is reading clearly, in character, and with enthusiasm then it is not difficult to get lost in the story in much the same way you would in your own reading zone, however a potential plus would be that it can allow you to multitask so that you're listening to the book you don't have time to read and maybe doing work or chores or a game or something else. I find it enjoyable from time to time to do more than one thing at once, idk ..

Aye that's the reason I wanted to try an audio book. But but when the first one I listened on was really enthusiastic about voices and characters I was really spirited and thought "Hey this ain't too shabby now!"
But then I tried another one wow! what a let down, let me tell you.

But you can listen to a story, and really follow it, while you do other stuffs aswell, say like gaming? I for one can't really focus on both things at the same time ;<

From the first book in the beginning
Gotta say his voice acting is really good. I find it really entrancing. Though the female voice ain't as good, but still nice (Y)

I'd never actually tried listening to a book until this year, and wasn't really impressed.
I would never listen to a book before reading it, as it's much harder to follow along and actually process what's happening.
However, it is pretty nice to listen to books you've read before when doing other things, such as driving, walking, playing games (I started listening to books while playing CoD), etc. You already know what happens for the most part, so you don't need to focus too intently on what you're hearing.

I tried listening to Harry Potter because I always heard they were supposed to be good audio books (I've already read them), but I couldn't stand the guy's voice acting. For female characters, he tried to actually sound like a girl and it was just terrible.

I guess you have to find not only books you wouldn't mind listening to, but also books with decent voice actors.

Anyway, I prefer books, but audio books aren't too bad if you're just casually listening.

I always read because recorded readings are too slow, when I read I usually go through quite fast

i cant agree more. i had an hour drive twice a day for the past year and a half. in that time i listened to, and enjoyed immensely, the entire wheel of time series. also listened to many other books. id rather read a book if i had the time, but i LOVE audiobooks in the car. it makes a car ride 1000x more bearable
