Okay, so it's a bit vague, but I read this book in like 7th grade, so that's to be expected.

Pretty much all I remember is that there was this kid who was in a wheelchair and he hangs out in this orchard of some sort. At the end of the book, they find out he hung himself.
I think one of the main characters worked at a Sunoco gas station? I don't know why this sticks out in my mind.

I know it's not much to go on, I will post more info if I remember it.

Actually, it's my friend who really wants to know, but we both read it years ago.
I don't remember anything from middle school, so he's telling me about it.
He now says that "maybe he wasn't in a wheelchair, maybe it was his grandma"

I think he and a girl used to hang out in this tree, then she finds him.
