Hey guys. I'm very interested in the Arthurian legend, but I haven't read much of the books and literature on the subject. That being said, I've researched books on it a lot. And I found a lot of books.
Does anyone recommend any in particular? There are thousands of books on the subject and I just want to narrow it down a bit.
I'm a history major, so one that deals more with the basic legend and is more historically accurate, in a sense (I understand that it is a legend, but you know what I mean..), but also some I'm just looking for some nice, more fictional novels.

I've seen a lot of people recommend T.H Whites series, The Once and Future King, but I'm not too sure if I want to jump into that. Also, The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley has been recommended to me, but it seems to just be a feminist book on the subject (I could be wrong though).

So. Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Have you ever read Bernard Cornwell? I haven't, but my dad was telling me about it.

The Warlord Chronicles
Main article: The Warlord Chronicles
A trilogy depicting Cornwell's historical re-creation of Arthurian Britain. The series posits that Post-Roman Britain was a difficult time for the native Britons, being threatened by invasion from the Anglo-Saxons in the East and raids from the Irish in the West. At the same time, they suffered internal power struggles between their petty kingdoms and friction between the old Druidic religion and newly-arrived Christianity.

I have not. But they look awesome, now that I'm researching them. Right up my alley. I'll probably be getting these sometime soon.
Thank you very much!

For more fictional, you should try Ghost King & Last Sword of Power by David Gemmell :)

Honestly, The Once and Future King and the final part, The Book of Merlyn, are the only two books concerning Arthurian legend that are worth reading. I wouldn't read one without the other though.
