I just finished this book after reading half of it a couple months ago, and starting over a couple weeks ago.

Anyway, I have a question.

Does Albert Kropp die? Paul says that he seems better, and not likely to commit suicide, and as far as I can remember, we don't hear anything about Kropp after Paul leaves the hospital. However, later it says that Paul is the last of the 7 classmates (was Kropp even in his class, or was he just someone he met after enlisting?)

I don't know why, but I think this was the saddest book I've ever read. The ending was really quite depressing.
Overall, it was a pretty good read though.
