I thought about it randomly, do you guys think this sounds too much like another book, perhaps the Inheritance series?

There are four factions of species, living on a great land. They are always at war, and each of their own deadly weapon.

To the east are the dwarves, short yet tough, experts at blacksmithing, and fearsome warriors.
To the west are the fair elves, proud, majestic, and terrifying. They are masters at killing, and are ruthless in battle.
To the south are the humans, they have nothing special to bring to the battle, but they are unique. They change, they develop, and they adapt.
To the north, are the most amazing creatures know to walk among them. The Draelin. They are born for war. Each with their own magical power, they find inner peace in the art of killing. Though they usually stay in their land, when they emerge, the dwarves, elves, and humans have to come together to stop them.

The novel takes place at a time when it seems another war with the Draelin is imminent, it is up to the humans to create a pact between the "Faerin" (elvish for three) once again.

Sounds like something I would love to read. ^^ I hope you write it, reminds me of the Eragon series with the elves and dwarf's. ^^

It sounds like you took the humans from the Shannara series, the elves from Drizzt and the dwarfs from every thing involving a dwarf ever.

But hey it might be good so who knows. But honestly this is a very common plot hopefully you can spin it.

Ya, but if it seems like I took them from those books, I guess it's different, right?
And all dwarves are like that.
And aren't all humans like that :P ?

Any fantasy idea like that could work. It's just a matter of who writes it and how.
But if you're a good writer and think you could really develop a nice story from that plot, go for it. It's definitely a solid start.

it sounds generic...
like a combination of Shannara, LOTR, and pretty much most fantasy novels involving humans, elves, and dwarves
I suppose you're going to include some wizard character who provides guidance over the races...
the title is somewhat ironic if you consider the other possible meaning of novel
