Haven't had the time to read anything but textbooks lately. Taking 5 classes as an accounting major is awful. I can't remember the last time I picked up a novel.

Looking for work in: Mystery, Fiction, Crime Fiction, History, Philosophy, Thrillers, Non-fiction (I love all challenging, smart novels that require reasoning)

I've primarily buried my face in older books, as im a bit of a reinassance man and do admitttingly enjoy the classics. But im looking to get into something newer, maybe discover a great author I haven't heard of.

So if you have any suggestions for the above genres, throw them my way and hopefully I'll catch something good.

BRENT WEEKS - fantastic and young new author, got me into fantasy a year ago

Patrick Rothfus - best writing style i've ever read, hands down - the man is a poet. he has one series - the kingkiller chronicle - 2 books so far - hands down AMAZING

song of ice and fire - obvious great series if you've looked anywehre on this sub-forum

orangutang - collin broderick - a dope memoir

scar tissue - fantastic memoire of anthony keidis

Just to name a few that were on the top of my mind

I've heard quite a bit about song of ice and fire, I've never been a huge fan of fantasy though, so I am a little skeptical.
I'll deffinitley look into them, think you can post an excerpt of each perhaps? A paragraph or two would be fine - usually thats all it takes for me.
