Patrick Rothfuss's debue series - the Kingkiller Chronicle

Day one - The Name of the Wind

Day two - The Wise Man's Fear

began this fantasy series after A Song of Ice and Fire and WOW is all i can say

His first book, the name of the wind, won the Quill award back in 2007 and i have to agree. Not one word in the 700 page debue novel is taken for granted or used as filler---from the first page of the prologueto the last line of the epilogue, everything and everyword ties in to the overall plot.

His words are written with a poetic justice that keeps you turning pages. The series is a book within a book.

It is written in first person and is an auto-biography of a man named Kvothe. Each book is one day of the storytelling.

The second book, the Wise man's fear came out recently and i am halfway through it. It took him two extra years of revision before he felt confident enoguh to release it, and luckily he spent the time. The second book takes off exactly where the first book stopped, continuing the story of Kvothe's life with even more detail and action.

This is a series, in my opinion, able to rival those of a song of ice and fire, the night angel trilogy, and the malazan series---being that i have read them all.

The series is pretty good, but can HARDLY be compared to the song of ice and fire series. The first book was a step in the right direction, but the second lacked much of the substance that made the first so wonderful.

I'll vouch its a very entertaining read, and Rothfuss has a decent sense of humor too.

The second book got a little strange after the halfway point, I'll agree.

agree, however i felt it was only weird, because the previous thousand pages didn't touch on such mature subjects.

been reading the iron druid chronicles now, and it is written in a similar style to this series, however a lot more laughs and i feel it to be more mature with a much qucker pace to the plotline - recommended for peope who like this series, guantee that you'll enjoy it
