Its driving me freakin NUTZ!
Ok so here it is:
I read a book awhile ago (likely 10+ years or so) and the book was well used when i got it.
I want to say the title is/was/had in it the "ritual" or "ceremony" or something along those lines
I believe the author was Male and American.
Plot as I remember:
centers on a youngish man (an author?) named Jeremy(?) looking for (summer?) accommodations.
Finds for rent a cabin on a farmstead owned by, I want to say, Sarr(?) and Deborah(?) Proth(?)
now the Farmers are Amish as is the entire community.
During the mans length of stay weird shit starts happening
and the narrative perspective at times changes to an other outsider (want to say traveling salesman
here but that might be some lingering Clive Barker) who is also some sort of conjuror/warlock/cultist
(or maby just possessed himself?) and attempting to complete a series of spells/events to
summon a (want to say giant white worm?)
I don't remember any but Jeremy and Deborah being affected by the machinations of the
mysterious magician, Deborah becomes kind of wonton and feral if you will and to be
scrificed(? in body? soul?), while Jeremy isn't so much spell struck as just blamed for most of the events...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
