it is, im halfway through clash of kings, second book in song of fire and ice series its good.

also, the girl with dragon tatoo series is great trilogy, and if u like high fantasy go with the dragon lance series, theres tons of trilogies and they all continue on.

lemony snicket series of unfortunate events is a great long series as well, little depressing, but still

You could go deeper into the legendarium in which LoTR and The Hobbit takes place. The Silmarillion is essential to understand everything in LoTR and The Hobbit.

It's just extremely complex.. it's not dull at all. In fact, calling it dull is dull. The first 130-150 pages are very hard to go through because it's so complex and so much to take in.. but after those pages, the book just gets better and better, trust me. But do not skip the first 100-150 pages.. they're very, very important to understand the fundementals behind everything you know about the legendarium (and fyi the legendarium is called the Arda Legendarium)

Fun fact: Tolkien's intension was to release LoTR and The Silmarillion as two seperate volumes. So when that wasn't possible because of financial stuff, he always said that LoTR is way too small to _really_ understand any of it. Which is completely true. So yeah, read The Silmarillion.

And I just realized I am such a fanboy, lol.

For non fiction books about war, try Black Hawk Down (Bowden), The Longest Day/A Bridge Too Far/The Last Battle (Ryan), The Great Escape (Brickhill)

They are all great reads.
