Please give me suggestions on suspenseful criminal investigation novels. I'm buying presents for someone who really enjoys these types of books. She recently read the The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series, Mystic River and Three Seconds. She said she enjoyed them all.

I would also appreciate comments and discussion/feedback on the suggestions of others. If someone posts a book you know, say whether you liked/disliked it.

Thanks in advance for your all of your posts!

Only one I have read is called The Vanished Man by Jeffery Deaver. Great book.(One of his books turned into The Bone Collector movie)

It's about a serial killer who uses magic tricks and ventriloquism to get away with murder. Even if you know nothing about magic or don't find it fascinating you will like this book. It has so many twists, there is no way you can guess what will happen.

Thanks for your post. I ordered The Bone Collector online. Only 4 bucks for a "very good" used and that already includes shipping!

I have a feeling she is going to like this entire series, so I'm going to let her start with the 1st one and eventually read The Vanished Man

She is enjoying The Bone Collector series, although she said it's a little gory.

Could someone offer suggestions that are thrilling/suspenseful psychologically, but not extremely gross/graphic.

Something that's got a story so good that it's hard to put the book down.

You might try the queen of crime novels, Agatha Christie.

Okay I Can Only Think of A Series of books which it just happens to be my fave and im currently reading them, but its a lil different than you describe, see ANITA BLAKE VAMPIRE HUNTRESS SERIES, a brief explanation for the entire book series is that Anita is called The Executioner of vampires, you get crime solving in almost every book, not to mention extra stuff in it bc theres vampires, lycanthropes and much more in here, and Anita is a Necromancer and a few other things about her which I refuse to spoil the surprise in the later part of the series which I havent' quite gotten to it yet lol :) heres the list of books and the new book thats about to come out

The Book Series In Order:

Guilty Pleasures

The Laughing Corspe

Circus Of The Damned

The Lunatic Cafe

Bloody Bones

The Killing Dance

Burnt Offerings

Blue Moon

Obsidian Butterfly

Narcissus in Chains

Cerulean Sins

Incubus Dreams

Micah

Danse Macabre

The Harlequin

Blood Noir

Skin Trade

Flirt

Bullet

(new one yet to come out is HITLIST)

btw if you wanna read up more on this from my description i got more information on my hubpages site :) feel free to check it out @ http://hubpages.com/hub/Anita-Blake-Vampire-Huntress-Series
