I have been following the tv show dexter and recently found out that they were based on books. So i thought it would be fun to actually read them.
If any of you have read the books please write what you thought about them, or just leave your vote in the poll

If the show is based on a book then chances are the book is 100x better. That is usually the case with show/movie adaptions.

I didn't know the show was based on a book. The book series have the same title "Dexter"?

I think the show has gone in a little bit different direction than the book. I haven't read them but I think they are also much darker than the show.

It's based on one book, called Darkly Dreaming Dexter.

From what I've heard, it' a great book.

Never read them either. I hear the writing is kind of "eh".

I'm still interested, though.

the books are well written but the get redundant pretty quick

i enjoy the humor in the books that dexter imply s a lot when he narrates to him self

but you will find out the books go way different from the show


also in the books dexter is more average then the show, in the show he is like a master in martial arts and could of been a doctor but decided not to cause didnt want the attention

in the books dexter isnt very good at fighting nor does he have the medical knowledge

but as the books progress it gets old and boring i feel, every book follows the same path

dexter kills, dexter helps deb with murder cases , dexter starts to notice other killings done be another serial killer like him self with a dark passenger, dexter puts the other killer out of his mind till end of book, other killer kid naps deb or tries to kill his family and he needs to stop him

and in 2 of the books he dosent even kill the rival killer


also dexter is a retard some times in the books the author puts easy hints about the rival killer but dexter misses them or it will go something like this " humm i recognize that where have i seen it before" then he completely forgets about it if he made these simple connections then he could easily avoid the climax at the end of the book if he was more aware

in this case the books aren't a heck of a lot better than the show.
