read that series many years ago, think it's my favorite series of all so far. I shat a brick when i found out he wrote a final one like ten years after his last. Never read it though :(

He is an amazing example of a good "career" writer... he can sit down and write a great novel because he ACTUALLY can right, he has a good book down to a science, no gimmicks minimal editing. A lot of writers are about hype or hop on the bandwagon, and get a few books out there and just hit a road block... he is a lot like Robert Heinlen or Ray Bradbury, which again are both authors who can write a book on command per se.

I'm only familiar with the Xanth series, as well. Unfortunately, now I have an urge to go and snag "A Spell for Chameleon"! Bah!
