So I was sitting in the library doing some homework and sitting next to me was this little unmarked book. I had been sitting there alone for a couple hours and nobody had touched it so I picked it up out of curiosity and started reading it.
I ended up reading the entire thing in one sitting and thought it was one of the best books I've ever read...I loved how it was this perfect satire of so many aspects of American life yet so readable and entertaining with all the little subplots. The characters seemed incredibly deep even tough they were many. They felt like real people that you could understand, if not relate to. I also really liked the way the author incorporated himself, in the first person, into the mainly third person narrative. A very interesting touch that I've never seen elsewhere (though I haven't read all that much).
The latter portion was, in my opinion, far more depressing and dark than the first half but I still thought it was amazing. I'm going to start reading another of Vonnegut's books right away.
Anyone else read this?
