Hi,

I'm looking for the name of a short story I read awhile back in highschool. Unfortunately, I don't remember much, but here is what I think I remember:

It was about a group of people who were kicked out of a town. I think one had a gambling problem. Out of the group, there was one was like the quiet one. At the end of the story, the quiet one (I think) commits suicide with I believe a gun and leaves behind something that I don't remember. I think he like carved something into a tree maybe?
