I was never an avid reader, but I'm slowly picking it up as hobby. I love science fictions, horror, religion (not religious books), and fantasy.

I love books by Lovecraft, Dick, Tolkien, and King. Any recommendation? Please no Rowling or Twilight series. Even if it was good read, the books has been tainted by the movies.

I'm not really a science fiction fan, but go for Ender's Game, probably one of the best books i've ever read. Wheels of Time is pretty good as well.

I recommend George R.R. Martin to anyone who reads fantasy, even though he's fat when it comes to writing.

Try out:

Stanislaw Lem - Solaris
Philip K. Dick - anything, all his books are quite amazing
susanne clarke - jonathan strange & mr norrell

and some personal favorites:

milan kundera - the unbearable lightness of being
joey goebel - torture the artist
ray bradbury - fahrenheit 451
charles bukowski - ham on rye
boris vian - l' ecume des jours

all top notch books

Ender's Game was good

Read the Inheritence Series (Eragon)

I just started the series of the Iron Elves (A Darkness Forged in Fire) is pretty good

Both are fantasy, Ender's Game is sci-fi

When I was into fantasy I read most of Neil Gaiman's prose novels. I'd recommend American Gods and Anansi Boys.
