It was hard not to include Enders Game or Stranger in a Strange Land in that list. =\

1. Inferno, Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle
2. Saga of Fire and Ice by George R.R. Martin
3. Belgaraid & Mallorean by David Eddings
4. Lovecraft (Mountains of Madness, Call of Cthulhu, Case of Charles Dexter Ward, Nyarlathotep)
5. Odd Thomas

Inferno is the most thought provoking novel out there for me.

2/3 entertaining, Lovecraft makes me wonder and freaks me just a bit, Odd Thomas made me care about the characters in a way no other can.
