For a project I had to write a dream sequence.
Couldn't use dialogue.
Had to use present tense.
So I figured, a battle.

A destroyed and still-burning forest surrounds them, the smoke is there to burn their eyes yet not thick enough to blind them. Birds are screaming in the night, wild-cat roars can be heard over the noise of crackling flame. They circle each other; bare feet make five-toed imprints in the ash of the previously grassy clearing. Warrior and dæmon square off in the most important battle in the history of the Earth. The man is painted for war, the dæmon born for destruction.

War-painted fist collides with brick red flesh in a muffled thump. A visceral battle roar explodes from the mortal, a banshee squeal from the dæmon. The immortal brawler ducks and attempts to gore the man with an infinitely sharp ivory horn. The warrior deftly dodges and replies with an elbow strike full force on the nape of the dæmon’s neck. There is no satisfying crunch of breaking bone; a spider-web growth of stone festers instantaneously on the intended point of impact, harshly bruising the attacker’s bone. A brief scream of agony; the dæmon bites at the man’s soft midriff between ribcage and hip bone, finds purchase, and renders a large patch of skin from muscle. Another scream in glorious pain and a triumphant banshee screech. There are flames in the warrior’s eyes as he bears down for another go at the destroyer of Earth. The battle has only just begun.

Warrior and beast leap back simultaneously for the next round. Time has expired. The conclusion has arrived.

Can man stop the inevitable?

not bad description, ppl usually fail hard at fight sequence originality. a couple spots maybe slightly dense like "a spider web growth.... impact".

i'd fundamentally disagree with the temporal continuity of a dream
but i'd expect you to get an A for the assignment

and wats ur ava from thx

Huh?

I'll try to uhh... expand that line, I guess, or something. I can see how the phrasing is a little awkward.

As for the ava, I found the original .gif [colored and everything] on 4chan, dumbed it down to fit the restrictions, put it up. Don't know where the girl in it is from. :/
