Something not really long- but still good

I red a few books only, biggest book i've red is Monte Cristo, and it was the shorter version

What do you mean by novice? As in length or difficulty? Or both?

Fight Club is fairly short, great book.
A Clockwork Orange
Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr are pretty thick books, but they're still easy and good at the same time

You should also check out the Dexter series by Jeff Lindsay (Darkly Dreaming Dexter, Dearly Devoted Dexter, Dexter in the Dark)

I'm currently reading A Clockwork Orange. Pretty good book if you can get past the made up language they use.

but there are versions of the book with the glossary in the back... makes it a much smoother read.

You can really get most all of the words though the context though

im in the same boat as the LeB and I would reccomend this book. i loved it
