I found the movie to be a fair adaptation of the book. It tried hard, and I think it did fair justice to the piece. I never expect much from movies formerly known as books and this one exceeded my expectations. Excellent work.
While I will be the first one to say that I truly enjoy Palahniuk's writing, it does annoy me to some extent that he really can be a one-trick-pony. So far, of his fiction, I've got Fight Club, Choke, Survivor and Lullaby under my belt. Am I missing something, or are the other few novels I have left just more of the same? Again, don't get me wrong, I enjoy it; but if I'm going to devote some time to reading a book, there are many others waiting that offer things I haven't read. All of his protagonists have some sort of God/messiah complex, all of them have crazy fucked up childhoods, all of them are extremely quirky and have some sort of obsession/addiction. While there is some variety left there, I would love to see him attack the problem from an entirely different angle.
Those looking for something different from Palahniuk should check out Stranger Than Fiction. He's got some excellent non-fiction in there.
Give Stranger than Fiction a try, completely different.
Rant is more of the same, but in a different style than usual.
