sample chapter, first chapter of the book im working on. Tell me what you think and dont be too harsh.
A boy lay sleeping in his bed, his body tossing and turning from whatever was creeping in his dreams. His hands covering his face every so often. Cries of fear and rage bellowed
from his soul, and eventually out of his lips. His name was Kori Le Blanc, son of Christopher Le Blanc, the great warrior of the modern world who perished a long time ago, but not long enough for Kori to not remember his father.
Kori jolted up from his bed, knocking off the garbage from his nightstand and he picked up the clock, his face enraged at the very thought of the time.
"The clock was supposed to wake me up at 7:00am!" Kori screamed as he threw the clock accross the room. "Stupid cheap clock!"
He had school that day, and everyone had always thought of him as the procrastinator, the one that never showed up on time. He knew he had this problem but it seemed within his brain the lateness was instantanious and unstoppable. He wanted to be on time so he could pass English, but since his teacher was always on his case and the students there bullied him and tried to find reasons to get him kicked out of class it was hard to fit into such a school. He asked his mom to switch but she reminded him everyday of his fathers saying, Never let the bull get you, Get the bull by the horns first. That was his terms for anything that had anything to do with succeeding. His dad was a great acheiver before he was killed, strange enough was his mom never spoke about it, she never mentioned how he died or anything she just said he had been lost to them now. Her words seemed strange because it seemed nothing like he was dead, just that he had disappeared from their existance.
Kori missed him, although he hardly knew him and he had always been away on buisness he still missed his dad all the time. Those special times they spent together, talking and laughing, icecream in the park. The special times he got with his dad Once a year, which wasn't a lot for a father deprived boy. Not a lot of his friends had dads either, they all were brought up by single moms. But strange enough his mother got over his dad rather quickly, she married shortly after Christopher's death.
Kori had a half-brother that died shortly after birth, his mother was always touchy about that subject, she even still had pictures up of her son when he was born. His beautiful blue eyes. He lived to 4 months of age and died of SIDS. It was common in the neighbourhood, a lot of people had children that had somehow been taken from them. The woman accross the road had a son in Afganistan and he died building a house for a family of 13, in the middle one of the protesters set a bomb and he was killed instantly. Kori even knew him, it was a sad moment for the community.
Kori got dressed, pulling into a pair of blue denims, a black t-shirt with a skull pattern on it, and a striped black and red sweater. He wore white socks today and his hair was red and reached his chin. He had a narrow but very pleasant face and big ocean blue eyes that looked like angels. He was very cute but never seemed the type for anyone, he was just too different. Just as he walked out of his room he grabbed a toque that he had always used, it was black with a green rim around it and a yellow lightning bolt to the side.
His lips were petite and he had somewhat of a big nose, his skin was milky, almost as white as flour. He was tall and skinny, much like any boy of his age. He was about 15 years old. He was 5'10" And weighed around 140lb. He had almost every feature of his father aside from the red hair. His mother was also blonde, so it was hard to tell where he got the red hair from. It certainly wasn't his parents. He kept a picture of his father on his nightstand. His father had brown eyes though, not blue like Kori's. His father was also blonde and had freckles all over his face. He was tall and lanky, and he had a very good look, he was incredibly handsome.
Kori walked downstairs to where his mother had breakfast on the table. She looked at Kori and smiled.
"Good Morning, Kori." She smiled greatly, her green eyes almost like emeralds.
"Good Morning Mom." Kori grined as he gobbled down his breakfast.
"Your late for school AGAIN dear." She gave him a lecture as she placed two peices of toast on his plate. "Im not driving you again today, your on your own. I have some work to do accross town."
"Whats the plan this time?" Kori asked, his mouth full of eggs.
"Im decorating the town hall, Im not sure if I should go with leather or with a fine finish of silk.. Its a hard decision. It has to be homey for out of town visitors." She smiled as she reviewed her plans, removing her apron and then it dawned on her that her sons table manners were a disgrace. "And for the record.. dont talk with your mouth full."
"Sorry Mom." Kori jumped out of his chair and grabbed his bag and lunch, slipping his black skater shoes on as he ran out the door. "See you after school, Love you Mom!"
"Love you too, Kori dear."
Kori ran down the street, passing people on their bikes and children in little tike cars on the sidewalk. He ran rather fast but at the same time he wasn't much of a jock, at least his school was only 3 blocks away.
Kori's Mom was named Anne, She had long strawberry blonde hair that reached her shoulders in layers and she was about 5'6" and was pregnant with her third child, presumably a girl. She was married to a man named Harrold who had jet-black hair and tanned skin, presumably Italian. He knew his mom had the hots for italians, she loved Antonio Banderas. She was to be due in 2 months, therefore she was 7 months pregnant and counting! Kori couldnt wait to meet his half-brother/sister. It was a surprise baby and Kori's mom decided to keep it that way.
Kori finally made it in the door when the bell rang, it was 8:45am. School bell always rang at that time but for some reason Kori couldnt make it before. It was the second bell so he was late. He ran to his locker, which coincidently was on the other side of the school. He grabbed his books for English and ran into class. His teacher was giving a lecture on 700 word essays. Kori walked in and got plenty of dirty looks from the kids in the class.
"Uhm, Excuse me!" A girl in the front said, putting her hand up. Her long skinny body slender and to die for. wearing a pink tanktop and tight blue jeans. "Isn't he supposed to report to the office if he is late!"
"Yes, thankyou Miss Andrews." The teacher smiled, pushing her thick glasses up her face again as she looked at Kori. Her long boney fingers pointing at him. "Go to the officec and write an Essay on why you are late and what you plan to do with your education at this point. Mr Le Blanc I am tired of your tardyness and lateness and I will not let you get away with it."
The students giggled at Kori as he walked out slumped over, he hated the entire school but was forced to put up with these people. He had no idea how long he could handle this unjust and stupidity. He walked to the office where the secretary's were waiting with a peice of paper and pen for Kori to write with. He grabbed them and sat in the chair, starting his essay.
As he sat there with the sharpy, he looked at the WHITE chair he was sitting in, thinking of writting his allias on the chair. He grinned widely as he wrote on the side:
'Zap could electricute your candy-ass.'
He then turned quickly to his paper and realised, he had been doodling all over it... oops. He quickly ripped it up and pulled out a peice of paper from his English book, re-writting his essay on what he had been told to do by the teachers.

About an hour and a half passed since he started the Essay. He finally finished it and handed it in, waiting to go to his History class. He loved History but the students in it treated him rather badly.
He went back to his locker where a bunch of kids were standing, he waited and waited but they wouldn't move. Finally as they moved Kori walked towards his locker and one of the students pushed him into the locker. Kori looked back and they just walked away together, plowing through the hall. Kori switched his english books for his History books and Walked up the stairs to his Social studies class which was three classrooms down from the top of the stairs. Kori walked in and just as he did the classroom had no teacher in it, just the students. They started to throw peices of paper at him, spittballs, pieces of eraser and pencils. He walked to the back of the class and opened his book, reviewing his homework and trying to ignore the harassment.
"Haha, Kori your a loser!" One of the boys laughed at him, throwing an eraser at him. "No wonder you have no friends, your running away from your problems."
"Yeah remember what your dead daddy said!" Another boy laughed. "Never be a wimp, Kori!"
"My Dad never--" Kori started to say before someone interupted him.
"Haven't we taught you before not to stand up to us?" Another boy said, wearing a hat that was tipped to the side like a gangster, all of the boys were wearing Jerseys with pants halfway down their butts. One was in cargo shorts, One was in black faded jeans, and the other one was in dark blue denim jeans.
Kori looked away and finished his homework.
"Haha your such a--"
"Class!" The teacher yelled, the boys quickly turned around and sat in their desks. "We begin our lesson today with the American revolution and the start of the Boston Tea Party. Do you remember what you had to write your history on?"
"The political view on the denial of English tea being brought into the United States of America and how the Americans refused service from the english, deminishing the queen from their republic?" Kori said.
Everyone stared at him, he actually did his homework for once.
"Good Job, Kori." The teacher smiled. "10 points for you. Now Im going to ask this final question, Who was the leader of the Boston Tea Party, and why did they throw Englands tea off the ship? Why such an attack? This is what you will be writting on your essay for today. I want it handed in by the end of class, no exceptions."
Kori turned and started on his work while a couple of boys continued to throw erasers at Kori, laughing at how they were bullying the biggest loser.
Kori knew if he opened his mouth about it something would happen so he never told anyone, not even the student councellor of the school.
The Bell for lunch rang and Kori rushed out of class to his locker where three of the boys from his history class awaited. He pulled his lunch out and one approached him with a smile on his face.
"You think your so smart, dont you?" The one kid asked, smiling with distaint as he came closer.
"Keep away.." Kori stuttered as he stepped back and into the locker.
"We'll teach you to be a smart-ass." The other one said as Kori was held up against the lockers and punched several times in the stomach, chest, face, and kicked when he fell to the ground in pain.
Kori couldn't handle it anymore, he slowly got up, wincing in pain as he grabbed his lunch and hid in the stall of the bathroom so he could eat his lunch in peace without being beat up.
Finally his next class started and he headed out of the bathroom and to his locker where he got his gym clothes. He headed off to gym where he hated to go, everyone in that class was cruel to him. He went into the boys change room and started to change as one of the boys grabbed Kori by the hair.
"Hello, pretty-boy." The huge kid smiled. "Your in my spot.. And for that you get punished.."
The boy threw Kori in the shower room and turned it on cold. Kori cried in pain as he sat there in his gym clothes being soaked by the showers. Today definantly wasn't his day.
He entered the gym soaked from head to toe, the gym teacher snickerd at him and sent him out of class.
"Go to the office, Kori." The teacher grinned cynically.
Kori went into the change room and grabbed his stuff walking to the office and he sat outside the principles office. The Principle shook his head at Kori and gestured him to come into the Office Room.
"Close the Door, Kori." The principle said, His name was Mr. Nickles. "Come and sit down."
Kori walked in and sat on the chair closest to the door.
"You honestly think its funny to jump in the showers in your gym clothes?" Mr Nickles asked him, crossing his legs. "You could get sick doing that. No matter what you do it wont get you out of working. You have an I in English, Mr Le Blanc... An I. You have C- in Math and a very horrible record of showing up. I would like the procrastination and Juvenile behavour to slow down before you take this far enough to put yourself into Juvenile Hall for a while. I dont want you to be a troubled child, Kori."
"Okay." Kori nodded as he looked at his feet, trying his best not to spill the beans about the boys and their attitude towards him.
"I know its hard without your father sometimes, Kori.." Mr Nickles leaned a bit closer, looking at Kori's face. "I just lost my mother to cancer, its not easy knowing that you can never see them again. I hope you know that everyone here cares about you. There are people who want the best for you that you dont know about. Please just stop yourself before your anger and bad attitude takes you to a whole new level."
"Yes Sir." Kori looked to the side trying to avoid eye contact.
"Thankyou, you can wait in the office till your next class to make sure that your clothes get dry." Mr Nickles shooed him away.

Class had finally ended and Kori rose, his clothes dry and wrapped in a blanket from the nurses station. He gave the Receptionist the blanket and headed out of the office towards his last class, Art. He had always loved art and he walked into the classroom in his gym clothes ready to draw. He pulled out his canvas and started to finish his painting. The art teacher was amaised by his wonderful art and beautiful drawing skills. His painting was of a beautiful dragon made of black clouds creeping from the bright sky. The teacher was still trying to grasp what Kori was saying in the art, of course he was expressing his inner demon. Kori knew that he had beautiful clouds within his soul, but somewhere in there was a dark creature beyond his control and he knew he had no control over it.
Kori looked outside as the clouds began to cover the school, odd enough it was really sunny out before the clouds suddenly moved over. It started to rain lightly and Kori continued painting, his soul pouring onto the paper.
"Thats beautiful." The teacher smiled, watching him. "Its as if your painting your heart into every stroke you make with the brush, like you create your own music and rythem to the painting you so vigorously do with such a great amount of inner light."

Class ended and Kori walked to his locker exchanging his books for his backpack and putting some books in his bag that were presumably his homework for that day. He pulled his backpack on and grabbed the bag of his clothes walking down the halls and out the front doors of the school. Outside were the boys that had been torturing him all day talking to each other and ignoring the other students around them. Kori was safe from them this time, he knew they wouldn't notice him walking by. He walked right past them but just as he passed the last boy in the circle one of them looked at him.
"Thought you could leave without saying good-bye?" The Asian boy smiled as he nodded at his friends. "Well thats really rude of you. We ARE your friends after-all."
The boys circled around Kori, the first one to hit him was the one in the darker colored jersey, then shortly after was a few other boys, all in jerseys. They started punching him much like they did last time but this time Kori fought back.
"Get off me!" He shouted in anger, pushing them away and swipeing at them with his fists, eventually punching the asian kid. "Get away from me!"
"You are going to pay for that, freak!" The asian kid wiped the blood away from his mouth as he swung at Kori.
Everything went dark, Kori only heard small voices, screams of pain and fear all around him as he lay on the ground. Sirens rang out in the distance; it sounded like two ambulances and the police. Kori tried to open his eyes but he could barely even get up off the ground, how could he see what was going on from that perspective.
"He's dead." An older male's voice spoke as he was a few feet away from Kori. "I wonder why these kids always end up getting in fights."
"I dont know." One of the paremedics shrugged as they zipped up the body bag after putting the boy in. "How is this one? Is he alive?"
"Just unconcious." The darker paramedic answered. "He hit his head really hard, strange enough how this kid could get killed by electricution, there was no energy or tazers found but somehow he was still killed with a tazer."
"We know it wasn't this kid." The cop started to converse with the paramedics. "It must have been some other kid or maybe this kid was just playing with his gameboy a little too much and he got electricuted."
"Strange.."
Kori slowly faded out, the voices could no longer be heard anymore.. he didn't have the strength to stay partially awake anymore. He started to think about his dad once again, only this time he saw his face smiling down at him and Kori as a small child holding his hand and looking up at his father. For some reason that moment Kori's heart was at peace.
