It was very good. So good in fact that about a year ago for a few months I started fanatically reading the whole series. After a while I realized that Orson Scott Card isn't that great of a writer and although his books have some great concepts, he spells them out rather than allowing an intelligent reader to figure them out for his or herself. But they are written for children, after all. Also he's a Mormon and hardcore conservative so I stopped reading his stuff.

I have only read the first (we had to read it in my english course) and it was a very good book, much better then I expected it to be. Finished it in one day ofc, was interesting all the way through.

His affiliations and politics shouldn't stop you from reading his works. Good literature is good literature after all.

I dont know about the Ender's series being for kids though. Any particular books stand out for you? I hated the Bean-series, they made Ender look very inadequate.
