Vacuum Diagrams
Ring
Destiny's Children Series
Titan
Moonseed

All of these are by Stephan Baxter, however they are quite long and challenging, especially if science isn't a strong point of yours.

I just picked up Consider Phlebas by Iain Banks today but I can't comment on it as I haven't read it yet tongue.gif

For good, quick sci-fi pick up something by Vonnegut. Particularly Player Piano, Cat's Cradle or Slaughterhouse Five. Any of those books should take you less than four hours to read.

For good, hard sci-fi (as in tech heavy) pick up Gibson's Neuromancer. It may be dated, but it's still an interesting read.
