The third book is named brisingr which i dont see where that fits in with the other titles.

Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, lol.

I guess they are saving "Empire" for the 4th book.

discuss.

I have not read the books but Brisingr means fire. I watched parts of the movie and I belive that is what Jeremy Irons (not sure what characters name is) says to make fire. That might tie the book name into the series for you.

I know what is has to do with it, it was the first ancient word/spell eragon ever used, without even knowing what he was doing.

I just figured they couldnt think of any other names lol.

It was supposed to be a 3 part book series.

Eragon, Eldest, And Empire was to be the third book's name.

Not to long ago Christopher Paolini revealed that due to wanting to put more stoyline in, he was going to make it a 4 book series, changing it from "The Inheritance Trilogy" to "The Inheritance Cycle"

My only guess as to why he named the 3rd book something different instead of Empire, was because he wanted to save that name for the last book, because it would fit the content better.

And yes, i am a major eragon fan. I wanted to blow all the owner's of Fox Entertainment heads off for the sad, and disrespectful distortion of a movie they made lol.

I read the first book and it really wasn't all that great. So i picked up the second book thinking, "Oh well maybe it's better this time..."
Turns out the second was a little... but not much better. So i'm going to read the 3rd and 4th books. I either secretly like them or i just can't stand not finishing a story. I believe its the latter.

ya, bout time on those books, they weren't anything earthshattering, but it was a nice mindless drivel of a novel...and i'm impatiently waiting on the next installment.

No offense meant, but you are in the minority on those thoughts then.

s'not so much that as its latent with lifted ideas. Just read the originals, imo. I'm far too lazy to actually search for all the things, so I'll take this snippet from Wikipedia for you

"Eragon has been criticized for its derivative nature, with critics drawing similarities between it and Star Wars (due to a very similar plot),[4] The Lord of the Rings (due to the setting, elven[5][6] and dwarven races,[5] and the language)[5] and Dragonriders of Pern, (which involves dragonriders with a telepathic link to their dragons).[7]

Many positive reviews note that the work pulls strongly from the conventions of fantasy, in character, dialogue and concepts.[8] School Library Journal's review of Eragon was positive, yet lukewarm, noting that Eragon is overly simplistic in its resolution of plot issues.[9]

Common Sense Media called Eragon's dialogue long-winded and clichéd, with a plot "straight out of Star Wars by way of The Lord of the Rings, with bits of other great fantasies thrown in here and there". The website did concede that the book is a notable achievement for such a young author, and it would be appreciated by younger fans, but still labeled it "overblown and derivative".[4]"
