I write a lot. My problem is as I progress into the stories further and further, the world in my head dies on me and I become bored with the story. This causes me to not finish very many stories. I don't aim for any lengths, I just write until the story is finished or it dies.

Anybody have a dilemma similar to mine? Are there things I can do to keep stories alive?

And, most importantly, how much do you think setting affects a writer? Suggestions on how/where would be nice, I'll give 'em a try.

It also seems the more you try to force it the more writer blocked you get.

I never force it, it just stops when it stops. I'll try the outline thing.

I used to have the same problem. I keep a journal, it's not really a story, but I have come to find myself filled with many revelations, each time spontaneously. So now I just keep a journal and I write in it each time I get that elation. Usually it occurs late at night at the end of the day, when i come home filled with thoughts of a somewhat incomplete...just something... History, politics, religion, drama, romance.. the number of pages I've filled with just spontaneous thoughts that eventually lead to some kind of recognition or understanding of something that cannot be taught to any one person.

My advice... keep a journal of short stories. If possible.. go over later them later.. much later... read them all... and see if you can relate or combine them.
