I have minimally read/watch all of the lord of the rings and I took this interest in the last one because I wondered where Bilbo, Frodo, and Gandalf and the rest went when they sailed off in the shit, which I googled and found to be Valinor/Undying lands. I found out that apparently The Simarillion contains info. about this place so I bought it and I plan to read it. Has anyone read it?

='[ I was so excited! Shot to hell.... I guess when I pick it up I'll just see how far I get. Doesn't the Simarillion eventually tie in with Middle-Earth?

The Silmarillion is the entire background of Tolkiens universe, creation of the world, etc etc, it's a great read, definitely worth picking up.

I found it very hard to get into. I have problems getting into books that have 4-5 new names in every paragraph and I struggled through the first 100 pages. I am sure it is a good read, but just isn't my style of book.

It definitely isn't an easy read, that's for sure.

read about 100 pages and couldnt keep reading... it's an extremely hard read... I've never had such difficulty reading a book lol..... it really gets bogged down on the facts and the relationships between people and they're 400 different fucking names they have

If you think of it as more of a reference manual or history textbook - then it is more understandable. Nobody reads textbooks for fun - but they do have a lot of information in them. I found it to be best if I wanted to know something specific.. I look it up and am happy. I also tried to read it though... no luck for me either. Too dense..
