i used to read all the time as a kid up to high school. i am now a college student without and find myself watching tv more and more, i would like to change this. i want to start reading again, but walking into barnes & nobel etc. without a clue as to what i might want to read is incredibly intimidating, and i usually walk out half an hour later empty handed. i'm looking for some possible book suggestions.

i like to read books about utopias (1984, Aminal Farm, Brave New World), i love harry potter and cronicles of narnia. i read every single animorphs book in elementary school.

i dont like books like the lord of the ring and fantasy space stuff.

i'm really into histoy (its actually my major).

i dont care if the book is fiction or not, just let me know of a few good titles that you have read that you think i should check out.

thanks a bunch

karel capek *absolutum* , some kinda holy ghost is commin upon earth , and most ppl start to become religious, BUTdiffrent religions ..., that leads to endless wars where anybody is killin his neighbours , all in the name of *his* god ..., written in the 30s ...but really good to read ( and in some parts the author is visionary enough to look into ww2 ... )

read umberto eco's books, they're fantastic (i don't know if the translation works so well, eco uses a rich style, and Italian is a complex language!)
