So Ive read the book, longtime ago, also read half of "The Silmarillion"... and was trying to remember how many rings were and their magical skills(lol). I mean there was "the one" what was the powers it gave(I know its not only to switch dimensions...)? then there were the 3 rings made from the silmarills(gandalf and the 2 other ancient elves have them), then there was 5, and 7, and 9 or something like that? Any got the info?

Three rings for elven kings
Seven for the dwarf lords in their halls of stone
Nine for mortal men doomed to die (Turned them into ringwraiths)
One for the Dark lord on his dark throne

also, gandalf had the ring of fire, which explains a lot about his powers, and galadriel had te ring of adamant, which let her realm endure. Elrond had the mightiest of the 3 elven rings, which he used to make rivendell. The dwarf rings used gold and gems to breed more gold and gems, and the rings given the humans were desinged to enslave. Sauron's ring was designed to allow him to see the hearts and minds of the other masters, and thus cotrol them.
